Alipay worked but WeChat Pay failed: what does it mean?

An Alipay success confirms only that Alipay QR transaction and the funding method actually used at that time. A WeChat Pay failure means that WeChat attempt did not complete; Alipay success does not verify WeChat Pay, and the failure does not prove every WeChat merchant will reject you.

Read the exact error in the current wallet app and check card-issuer alerts. Follow the named identity, card, limit or risk-control check with official wallet support or your bank. Do not assume arriving in China will fix it, or assume the QR is a personal-transfer code. Use the wallet that succeeded where accepted and keep RMB cash as a backup.

Different merchants, transport codes, mini-programs, amounts and future conditions remain untested. A linked card that was not used for this payment is also untested.
